Chris and I have been on vacation this week, so we’ve been spending lots of time with family and friends. We had fun Christmas celebrations all week long – including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the our “Friendsmas” last Wednesday. My sister and nephew also got to town on Wednesday so we’ve been doing things with them, including the Zoo Lights and a late Christmas dinner at my Mom’s tonight. There’s honestly nothing I like more than making these types of memories. In the midst of all this activity, I wanted to share with you a few things this week that have rocked my world. 😉 Enjoy!
OMG. This movie was hilarious! My parents had the kids overnight last weekend so Chris and I went to dinner and a movie. He picked Jumanji, and it looked good enough, so I went along. Boy was I glad I did! I seriously didn’t stop laughing the entire movie! And it was good, healthy humor, not that crude or overly immature type humor that tends to dominate movies now-a-days. Just genuinely funny. Also, have I mentioned that Jack Black is one of my all-time favorite actors?
2. Faux Fur Throw
Did you guys see our rustic Christmas table? The runner on that table was actually my new faux fur throw! I got it last week to have in case I needed a last minute gift for someone and decided to keep it for myself because it’s so pretty and soft! I know I’ve said it a million times before, but I’m obsessed with cozy blankets… Chris can’t understand why we have (literally) 10 throws or blankets in our family/dining rooms. It’s an addiction. 😉 Anyway, this throw is awesome, and only $10! Head over and get one here (I got the Brown/White color) because I promise you’ll want it for your holiday week snuggle sessions.
3. Flameless Candles
I used some flicker flameless candles from Pottery Barn on our dinner table this week and I was really impressed by how realistic-looking they were. Even on the table with real flame candles, they looked stunning! And the neatest part about these candles is they can be set to turn on automatically at dusk! If you like the flameless option but want something realistic, I’d encourage you to check these out.
4. Facebook Groups
To be honest, prior to this month I hadn’t invested any time in growing my blog on Facebook. My demographic is found more on Pinterest and Instagram, so I focused my attention on growing my followings on those two sites. But, as I’m working towards building my blog into a business, I’ve joined some blogger networking Facebook groups and they’re so neat! It’s fun to meet other bloggers that obviously have a lot more experience than me but are willing to invest time in networking and connecting with me in a group. I’ve learned from many of them already, and it gives me an opportunity to establish a supportive community. If you’re a blogger, I’d encourage you to look into joining a few!
Here are three I’ve joined recently:
5. My Camera
I’ve done two posts now with my new Nikon D300, and it’s amazing how much better quality pictures I’m getting! I used to think my iPhone pictures were just fine and there was no need for something better, but I was definitely wrong… I’m still learning, and my family laughed at how many pictures I took of our Christmas table, but I think over time you’ll notice a big improvement in my photography. Anyone have any DSLR photography courses they’d recommend??
Welp, there you go – my five favorites this week. I’m probably off snuggling my nephew in my new faux fur throw as you read this. 😉 Have a great weekend!
