HOW TO STYLE A BATHROOM –
EASY DECORATING IDEAS
Add a Fun Rug
Try placing a rug outside the tub or shower, or even in front of your vanity for added comfort!
Patterned rugs can give you a fun element in a neutral space.
Use a bold rug to brighten up a dark floor!
Try a large rug for an even cozier feeling.
Install Shelving
Shelves add an opportunity for decor and putting bathroom linens on display. Place a few over the toilet or on an empty wall!
I’m a big fan of the floating, open shelves like the ones we installed in both our guest bathroom and master bathroom.

If you have room for a tapered shelving unit, definitely add one. They’re super stylish and add lots of functional shelving space to your bathroom!

Group Things in Baskets
Things like toilet paper and towels can look really nice tucked away in baskets. They are also good for storing beauty products or hair styling accessories out of sight.
We store all our backstock toiletries and kids’ bath toys in hyacinth baskets!
A farmhouse wire basket with a linen liner is a perfect way to hide the toilet paper. Also, large glass jugs are a fun way to display appealing necessities, like soap!

Natural fiber baskets always add fantastic style and texture to a bathroom.
Hang a Pretty Shower Curtain
Shower curtains are the perfect opportunity to add color, pattern or texture to your bathroom.
A simple one will add comfort to the space.

Add one with lots of pattern to give the room a fun element.
No need for a shower curtain? No problem! Hang one in front of an unsightly, old, stand-up shower or even in a window!
Add Flowers or Greenery
It’s amazing how much style comes with adding a bit of greenery.
And don’t think you have to have a green thumb to decorating using plants – faux flowers and greenery are just as nice!

Group Items on the Counter in a Tray
I’ve found that we tend to leave things we use on a regular basis sitting out on the counter – for me it’s my clock and my ceramic jar with bobby pins and q-tips in it.
Grouping items like these in a tray makes them seem like decor!
Hang Artwork
This could be a cute sign with a saying, a beautiful photograph, or a fun gallery of prints!
Display Towels
Try stacking a few nicely folded towels or hanging one on a hook.
Colored towels are a great way to add a pop of color to your space too.
Towels on display also make guests feel more welcomed to take a shower because they don’t have to ask where the towels are!
In case you’re like me and you like lists, here’s a recap in list form. π

Updating your bathroom can be a big undertaking, but adding simple decor to make it more stylish can have a big impact and be quick and easy!
Don’t be afraid to get rid of outdated decor either – it’s ok to swap out an old photo that’s been in your bathroom for years for a new updated print!
Many stores (like Bed Bath and Beyond) even have “sets” for things like towels, shower curtains, and rugs. Maybe start with a simple swap out of those and then work up towards the art work and shelves.
Whatever you decide to do, I promise, you won’t regret it. π
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
