How to Make a DIY Macrame Wreath Ornament
STEP 1: Cut and Attach Cord
First cut 18 cords at 16″ each.
Next attach the chords around the ring using the lark’s head knot.
If you need a refresher on how to do any of these knots, please reference my beginners guide to DIY macrame!
STEP 2: Create Wreath
Once you have all 18 cords on the ring, section them off into six groups, each group having three larks head knots.
Next, take the two middle cords and make a square knot.
This will be a little different as you won’t have the two chord in the middle as usual, but follow the same steps as a square knot.
Now, we will take the far right cord of the section and do line of double half hitch (DHH) to the center of the square knot.
Then, using the far left, make another line of DHH to the right, meeting and joining the two in the center using the the left as the holding cord and the right as the working cord
Repeat this step in the remaining five sections

STEP 3: Finishing Your Wreath
Finally, cut off the extra cord, leaving about an inch.
You can either leave your wreath ornament like this or create more of a fringe look by unravelling the ends of the remaining cord and brushing them out with a small comb.
Last, cut a 12″ piece of leather cord or string and attach it in between two of the sections using the larks head knot and put another knot at the top, so you can hang your lovely little macrame wreath!
And there you have your fun boho macrame ornament!
It’s such a pretty addition to my tree and I love the boho touch it gives.
These would make awesome Christmas gifts too!
