I love pine cones in just about all of my seasonal décor and so I thought it only fitting to make a few pine cone ornaments for our tree!
I got my inspiration from this ornament and decided to use one of my flocked floral picks for the greenery portion, making it a super easy DIY project!

How to Make an Ornament out of a Pine Cone
STEP 1: Paint the tips of your pine cone.
Start by painting all of the tips of your pine cone using basic acrylic paint and let dry.
I wanted mine to have a “frosted” or snow-capped look, so I chose white paint.
STEP 2: Add greenery to the top.
Next, cut a piece of jute twine at about 12″ long and glue the middle of that string to the wide end (is that the top?) of your pine cone.
Once that’s dry, trim pieces of greenery off of your pick and glue them onto that same section.
My pick had a grouping of red bells in it, so I included those on the top of my ornament.
As you go, continue to pick the ornament up by the jute and test how “balanced” it is. You may find you need to add more greenery to one side to even out the weight so the ornament hangs straight.

STEP 3: Tie a loop in the string.
Lastly, tie your jute string in a loop for hanging and you’re done!
I love how it looks by itself too – could be something fun to hang on your door with a simple greenery swag!
So what do you think – easy, right?
And it looks like something you’d pay a lot for at the store!
