Add some fun Irish flair to your home this March with a simple DIY St. Patrick’s Day wreath made primarily from Dollar Store items!

One of my favorite ways to add limited-time seasonal decor is with wreaths!

You can place a wreath over your front door, a closet door, even a mirror, and they add a fun little pop of color to your home.

If you’re looking for a cheap and easy way to add some St. Patrick’s Day flair to your space this year, this DIY wreath is the perfect way to do it!

The feather wreath is playful and emits the traditional fun flair you’d see in St. Patrick’s Day decor and the stems and shamrock add just a touch of the standard “lucky” style.

Have fun with this one – it’s super easy and looks fabulous!

How to Make a St. Patrick’s Day Wreath

Materials Needed:

Metal Wreath Frame (I got mine at Dollar Tree)
25′ of Green Feather Boa (I got mine at Dollar Tree)
Styrofoam Shamrock (from Dollar Tree)
Gold Floral Stems
Green String

Tools Needed:

Glue Gun
Extra Glue Sticks
Floral Wire Cutters
Scissors

Dollar Tree St. Patrick’s Day Wreath

STEP 1: Wrap The Frame

To begin, place a blob of hot glue on the outer part of your metal wreath frame and glue the end of one of your boas onto it.

Make sure it’s adhered well.

Then start wrapping your boa around the metal frame until you reach the end of it.

At the end of each boa, glue the end to the frame and the beginning of the next one in the same place.

Then wrap that boa around until its end and continue this process until your entire frame is covered in feathers.

I used 6 small boas from the Dollar tree to cover a 14″ metal frame (also from Dollar Tree.)

STEP 2: Glue on Stems

Next, use your wire cutters to trim the small section of stems off of your larger stems.

Arrange them in a grouping on the front, middle of your wreath and then glue each of them onto the metal frame through the feather boas.

I used 4 small stems (each about 6″ long) to make my bunch.

Make sure you hold the wreath upright and confirm you have them glued well enough to hold when it’s on display!

If not, add a bit more until the stems are stable.

STEP 3: Tie on the Shamrock

The last step is to tie on your large styrofoam shamrock!

You could always use a different large focal piece here – whatever you like.

Begin by cutting the tag off your shamrock.

Then, cut two 12″ pieces of green string and glue the center of them on the back of your shamrock – one at the top and one on the bottom.

Place the shamrock at the bottom right of your wreath, get it into a spot you like, and then turn over the entire thing (wreath and shamrock) and set it on the table face-down.

Use the strings to tie the shamrock into place from the back.

Trim up the strings once you’re done tying, and you’re done!

I love the playfulness of the feathers and the simplicity of the shamrock and stems.

Plus, this baby only cost me $10 to make! What a steal!

While this wreath looks great in our entryway, but I may put it over the mirrors in our living room – we shall see. 😉
