Give your tree a natural flair with these easy-to-make wood bead tassel ornaments!
I LOVE wood beads. They’re so simple and yet so stylish!
My wood bead garland is one of my favorite pieces of décor to throw in my vignettes and I figured why not make some wood bead ornaments to add that same style to my tree?

The other great thing about wood beads is that they’re paintable. Don’t like the look of the natural wood? Give them a coat of paint to match your décor!
I hope you have fun with these!

How to Make a Tasseled Wood Bead Ornament
STEP 1: Make the Tassel
Start by wrapping your jute twine around your hand about 15 times.
Then, use another piece of twine to tie that loop of twine together about 1″ from the end.
Next, use your scissors to cut through the end of the loop on the other end, making the twine tassel.
Finally, tie the end of a 12″ piece of twine through the short loop end of your tassel.
STEP 2: Thread on the wood beads.
Next, thread your wood beads onto the 12″ piece of twine and then tie the end of your string above the top of your tassel.
I used three sizes of beads (let’s call them L=Large, M=Medium, and S=Small) in a pattern of LSMSLSMS and put 20 beads on it making it about 9″ worth of beads.

STEP 3: Tie on the bells.
This part is totally optional, but I felt like my ornament needed a little something more, so I threaded 3 small gold bells onto a piece of twine and tied them to the seam between the wood bead loop and the jute tassel.
And you’re done! I love how simple this tutorial is…
And these would look amazing on a large natural-themed tree!
Ways to customize this would include painted beads, different colored bells, or even a flower or greenery stem instead of the bells!
As promised, here are the printable instructions:
- Wrap the jute twine around your 4 fingers about 15 times.
- Use another piece of twine to tie a not around the loops about 1" from one end.
- Cut the other end of the loops to create the tassel.
- Tie one end of a 12" piece of twine through the loops on the top-end of your tassel.
- Thread wood beads onto that 12" piece of twine until you have about 9" of beads on there and then tie it back to the top of your tassel.
- Thread 3 small bells onto a small piece of twine and tie them around the seam between your wood bead loop and your jute tassel.
Customize this ornament by painting the beads, using a different color of bells or swapping out the bells for greenery or a flower!
Have fun making these! I’ll see you tomorrow for another DIY ornament tutorial.
