How to Style Floor Lamps
Where to Put Farm House Floor Lamps
Not sure if you have a spot for a new floor lamp or wondering where you might put one in your home? Here are my favorite spots:
- In an empty corner
- Next to a couch
- Beside a reading chair
- Next to a buffet or sideboard
- Beside a nightstand
Types of Floor Lamps
What type of lamp you get for your space primarily depends on what typs of light you’re looking to add.
Are you wanting more light in the room overall? Or maybe you want to be able to read in a specific chair so you want a task light for that spot?
Below you can get more detail into which type of floor lamp is best for your space.
Traditional Floor Lamp
The traditional floor lamp is one that stands straight up and has a standard fabric shade on the top.
These are best suited for lighting up an entire space.
Here are a few more affordable, traditional floor lamps, farmhouse style:
Torch Floor Lamps
A torch floor lamp is similar to a traditional floor lamp except it has a bowl-shaped glass shade that pushes the light up and out.
These are also great for lighting up a room in general.
Here are a few more great farmhouse style torch floor lamp options:
Tree Floor Lamp
A tree floor lamp has a main stand with multiple lights branching off of it (like a tree!)
These are great for lighting up multiple focus areas in a space, like in a corner between a chair and sofa.
Here are a few of my favorite farmhouse style tree floor lamps:
Arc Floor Lamp
Arched floor lamps have a light offset from the main stand and are great for placing in a corner over a sofa or chair.
Depending on the shade, they can light up the entire room (with a drum shade) or add task lighting to a specific spot (with a solid shade.)
Here are a few great arc style floor lamp farmhouse style options:
Column Floor Lamp
Column floor lamps are a lamp from the ground, all the way up to the top. They’re great for adding lots of light to the overall space.
Grab one of these if you have an empty corner to fill – their style is one that’s great for standing on its own.
