Happy Friday, friends! This is my first post in a weekly series I’m starting called “5 Friday Favorites!” I thought it would be a fun way for you all to get to know me on more of a personal level, rather than project level, and I could also point you to some of my favorite things from the week. I’m giving myself free reign to share anything I’d like, so these favorites could be a whole slew of things! I hope you enjoy what I’m hooked on this week. Who knows, maybe you’ll have a new favorite after reading this too! 😉

1. Hot Buttered Rum
The weather here in the valley has been extremely cold these last few weeks. I’m talking mid 20’s to low 30’s, people. FREEZING. And it’s not the typical fall weather we’d expect, so I’m nutorious for underdressing and getting really cold… At any rate, I went out to dinner at a local distillery with some girlfriends on Monday night, and just the walk from my car inside had me chilled to the bone. Lucky for me, they had hot buttered rum on their drink menu! I hadn’t had it before, but anything warm sounded good so I gave it a shot. Oh my goodness! It was so tasty! And the fact that it was a warm drink made it like ten times better. I think I’ve found my new favorite winter drink… 😉
2. Rockstar Jeggings
In May of this year I started a journey to get fit and healthy. I began working out 4-5 times a week and eating a high-fat, low-carb diet. I’ve gotten really good results – losing 25lbs! And everyone knows when you lose that much weight, buying new clothes is inevitable, right? So, I headed to one of my favorite clothing stores, Old Navy, and in search of some black skinny jeans for fall and found these amazing Rockstar Jeggings! I love that they have an elastic band control top waist but look like actual jeans! Not only are they stylish, but they’re super comfortable too! I also ended up buying them in purple, denim, and deconstructed. Does anyone else do that? Find something you like and buy 4 versions of it??
3. Merry Mimosa Candle
My sister-in-law and I went Black Friday shopping this year and ended up getting a few things at Bath and Body Works because they had a buy-3-get-3-free deal going on and I’m a sucker for deals… I love burning fall and holiday candles in my home, so decided to get one of theirs to try. I picked the Merry Mimosa (which smells amazing!) and it was gone in about a week! I guess it’s safe to say I loved it. I’m not going to lie, I bought 3 more of them when they went on sale for $9 last week! Unfortunately this scent is out of stock now, but they have lots of other yummy smelling candles in their White Barn line.
4. Blanket Scarves
One of my good friends got me a blanket scarf for my birthday last year and I’ve been LOVING it this fall! The blanket scarves are stylish and trendy, and yet because they’re large in size they actually keeps you warm too! This one is similar to the one I own, and I tend to wear it with my black or purple jeggings (see above!), a denim button-up shirt and cognac boots.
If you know me at all, you know I do best when my life has organization and structure. What you may not realize, is that up until now my blogging has been purely “unorganized”! It’s been almost a year since I started sharing our DIY projects and design ideas with all of you, and most all of it was all done on the fly and as time permited. This last week I decided to work hard in 2018 to get the blog more organized! I’ve now got the equipment to make it easier (thank you Chris for the new camera and laptop!), a post calendar that’s planned about 3 months ahead, resources to help me maximize my time, and more! I’m so excited for this next year and seeing how my blog is going to flourish!
Here’s where I need YOUR help – let me know in the comments below what your favorite post of mine is so far and why.
It’s my goal to speak to what my readers are loving more in the year to come!
Have a wonderful weekend!
