Make your own balloon heart Valentine’s Day cards with this simple tutorial and free printable and treat your friends and family to fun, homemade valentines this year!
Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays because it’s a time that encourages people to get crafty.
I’ve always been a fan of making my own homemade valentines – they’re just so much more fun than simple store-bought ones!
I hope this printable, and the simple step-by-step instructions to follow, make it easy for you to make your own homemade valentines.
Next, use your white paper cards to estimate and cut strings for your heart balloons.
You’ll need 5 strings per card and I made them about 1″ longer than the middle of the front down to the bottom.
STEP 4: TAPE YOUR STRING ONTO YOUR CARD
Once you have all your hearts and string cut, tape your 5 strings together onto the front of your card.
Wrap the extra 1″ around the bottom onto the back and tape the ends in place on the back.
Cut one more heart from one of your colored card stocks and tape it over the ends of the string on the back.
STEP 5: TAPE ON YOUR HEARTS
The last step is to tape on your hearts!
Start with a large colored card stock heart and place a small piece of the two-sided tape on the back.
Stick it onto the white card tilted and slightly off to one side.
Be sure the bottom point of your heart is lined up with the strings so it appears that the string is connected to the “balloon” heart.
Then, do the same thing with your second large card stock heart and then both small card stock hearts to get a layered grouping of four balloon hearts.
Lastly, place a foam circle on the back of your red “love” heart and then place it in the front and center of your heart balloons.
And that’s it! You now have festive, homemade valentines to give to your favorite friends or family members.
You could also make a big batch of these homemade Valentine’s Day Cards with our free printable and take them to work or school for a larger exchange.
I hope this free printable and simple tutorial help you make some fun and festive homemade valentines this year!
