Let’s Do This!

I cannot wait to start sharing all the fun projects my husband and I do around here!

I mean, seriously, there’s so much going on in this little house I’m hoping I can even keep up with the documenting…

Truth be told, I’ve never been a big fan of writing, but here I am, dedicating lots of time and effort into sharing this crazy thing called creativity with all of you.  It’s so exciting! Eek! ๐Ÿ™‚

By the way, I’m REALLY glad you’re here.

I thought it would be fun to visit the “who, what, when, where, why and how” aspects of this newly launched venture with you as we embark, so here goes!

I’m Rachel – a Christian, wife, mom to two wonderful children, financial analyst, DIY-addict that loves to help others understand the fun and ease of creating things.

My husband and I are in the process of remodeling/updating our second home in the Pacific Northwest. I love coffee, Fixer Upper and snugly blankets. Feel free to visit the ABOUT page to learn more about who I am!

Joyful Derivatives – the blog. I got the name from my middle name (Joy) and the idea of “deriving” joy. Plus, I like that “Derivatives” is also a mathematical term. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I turned 30 this month – seems appropriate, right? I’m going to shoot for a post every week, so check back about that often!

Here. www.joyfulderivates.com. Share it, Pin it, Tag it, whatever it is we do these days – let’s get the word out! (You can also follow me on Facebook or Instagram)

Why a blog? Why now? Why, in the crazy season of young kids and a busy career am I choosing to start a blog?! Well, there’s no time like the present! I just really love creating beautiful things and I want other people to feel empowered to do the same thing! I want to create home tours that inspire, tutorials that enable, tips that encourage, and dialogues that emit joy.

This is the most important part and it revolves around YOU! The only way I can be a success is by inspiring my readers, so that is my goal – inspiration. Please feel free to contact me along the way with suggestions and ideas!

You still with me? If so, I love you. Now grab a coffee, snuggle up with a blanket, and let’s do this!

  1. Great idea using dollar tree! For folks that don’t have a Cricut, I bet using lettering stencils and spray painting could make lots of cool options.

You should share how you made the “raised panel” looking cupboard doors in the bathroom makeover. That is impressive!

    Love this site!

    • Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚ So glad you’re enjoying the blog. I’ll do a DIY tutorial on the cupboard door detail when we do it in the master bathroom! I appreciate the suggestion!

  2. Great job Rachel! Words cannot describe how proud I am of you! You continue to amaze me with all you are and all you do!
