I love creating simple and affordable DIY decor for the holidays.

Honestly, one of my favorite things about holiday shopping is all of the DIY ideas that come to me as I look at the decorations in the stores!

A few years ago I saw these cute bottle brush mason jar snow globes at Anthropologie and loved them, but was determined to make a low-cost version myself.

Well, I’m excited to share that I have officially made them and today am going to teach YOU how to make some!

Instructions for Mason Jar Snow Globe DIY:

STEP 1: Using your hot glue gun, glue your bottle brush tree onto the inside of your mason jar lid.

STEP 2: Put artificial snow into the mason jar. I used about 1/2 a cup because my tree didn’t have stem, but if you tree has a stem, use more so that the snow fills up the bottom of the jar.

STEP 3: Assemble your mason jar snow globe by putting the lid on and then turning it upside down!

Super easy, right? And the best part is, these are neutral so they can be put out for the Christmas season and then left out all winter long! Low-cost and versatile – my favorite combo. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope you enjoyed this easy mason jar snow globe DIY tutorial!

There are lots of ways to customize this simple project to perfectly match your decor – you can use colored trees or snow, varying sizes of jars and/or trees, and even choose gold or silver lids for the jars.

I’d encourage you to make a few this holiday season!

As always, let me know if you have any questions, and tell me in the comments what your favorite Christmas DIY project is!

  1. I didn’t do anything to the glass jars – the glitter tends to stick to the glass because of the static! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. The bottles look like they have snowflakes stuck to the inside creating a beautiful effect! How did you do that?

  3. Hi Sam, I’m not sure if the bottle brushes would hold up to the water, but it’s worth a shot! I liked the waterless look better, so left them without. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Looks great! Any concern with adding water with the artificial snow to make a snow globe that one can shake to create a “snow storm”?
