Happy Friday, friends! Today I’m going to share with you my 5 favorite spots to place area rugs in a home. It’s not uncommon these days for houses to have hard flooring (hardwood, tile, or vinyl) throughout most of the home – and if you’re anything like me, you love the style of hardwood but still crave something cozy under your feet! Not only are area rugs an amazing way to add comfort, but they can also really up the style in your home too. Rugs are a great way to add new textures, colors or patterns to your decor. Have fun with rugs – they’re easy to swap out if you don’t end up liking the one you get! I hope this inspires you to think about where you might like a rug in your home. 🙂

1. AT THE ENTRY POINTS
Placing a rug inside the door makes people entering your home feel welcome and protects your floors from outside dirt and shoes!
2. IN FRONT OF THE STOVE OR SINK
A lot of time is spent cooking and doing dishes, why not have your feet comfortable while doing them? These rugs also protect your floors from water and food splatter.
3. UNDER THE COUCH
Couches are typically a place to lounge and relax, and what better way to make a space cozy than by adding a large, soft area rug underneath your feet! In my opinion, this is THE ULTIMATE placement for upping the cozy factor in your home… and I typically use a shag rug in this spot for even more comfort!
4. DOWN THE HALLWAY
Hallways experience lots of traffic and adding a rug will help cut down on noise as well as protect your flooring!
5. OUTSIDE THE SHOWERS
I love stepping out of the shower onto a comfy rug… It’s the best! These rugs also protect your floors from water damage. (Just be sure the rug is dry before you put it down or you may ruin your painted tile floor like I did here…)
So, where in your home would an area rug help add comfort and style? The entry, kitchen, family room, hallway or bathroom? And did I miss any places you love rugs in your home?
Let me know if you snag a new rug for your home and where you end up placing it!
